It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sam Rudderham, 84, on Friday, Jan. 15, 2010, at the Northside General Hospital, North Sydney.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Gordon and Dorothy (Cameron) Rudderham, Point Edward, Cape Breton.
He is survived by his sister, Anna (Taylor); brothers, Robert (Elizabeth) and Rowe (Sally); and sister-in-law, Dawn. Sam will be fondly remembered by his 20 nieces and nephews and many grandnieces and grandnephews.
Sam was predeceased by his brother, Jerry.
A dairy and beef farmer all his life on the family farm in Point Edward, Sam was known for his hard work and compassion shown to all the animals in his care. He loved the outdoors and in his later years, enjoyed visits by his family and friends. Sam was a devoted member of Leitches Creek United Church.
Visitation will take place from 7-9 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 18, 2010, at Sydney Memorial Chapel. A funeral service will be held in the chapel 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, with Rev. Jackie MacDonald officiating. Interment in Mitchell Island Cemetery at a later date.
