With great sadness, we announce the passing of Cynthia (Cyndi) Winona Gordon. Cyndi was born at Kamsack, Saskatchewan, May 6, 1971. Cyndi passed away with her family by her side in Regina, Saskatchewan on September 6th, 2012 at the age of 41 years. Cyndi resided in Prince Albert, and was employed at Econo Lumber. Prior to Econo Lumber she worked at Expocrete in Calgary and Saskatoon, Crown Enterprises in Saskatoon, and for a short period at Moosomin First Nation as a Consultant to Post Secondary Education and Saskatchewan Indian Training Assessment Group (SITAG).
Cyndi’s elementary school years were spent in Yorkton. She attended Punnichy High School for her Jr. and Sr. highschool years during her stay at Gordon Student Residence. She completed her Adult 12 at Mount Royal College in Calgary, Alberta, and she achieved her goal in completing the Administrative Assistant Diploma with honors at Bow Valley College, in Calgary, Alberta. During her educational years, Cyndi made many friends that she held dear to her heart.
Cyndi leaves to cherish her memory: Her children, Tonia Gordon (Jesse Hunter), Evan Gordon and Jade Lewis. Three grandchildren, Naveh, Kassie, and Ryder. Her parents, Alerena and Roy Brazeau who raised and took care of her through her short life and will cherish her memory always, and her father, Louis Genaille will always love the memories she has given him. Koko, Winona Brass (Whitehawk), Her sister, Caroline Gordon (Dwayne Swiftwolfe), Her brother, Langford Gordon (Laurie), Her brother, Claude Cote, step- sisters, Arlene Adam (Andy), Charlene Harasyn (Clint), Belinda Brazeau, Melissa Brazeau, Martin Lewis (father of her children). Uncles, Arnold Gordon (Brenda), Lorne Gordon , Earl Gordon (Rhonda), Aunties, Marilyn Buffalo (Sam), Sheila Gordon, Lorraine Papequash , Emiline Sholopiak, Eunice Assiniboine (Muffet), Doran McLaren (Mochi), mother-in-law and father-in-law, Andrew and Bernice Lewis as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Cyndi was predeceased by: her Grandparents, Peter and Lorna Genaille, Grandfather, Percy Severight and Grandfather, Lawrence Brass, Aunties, Beverly Gordon, Elaine Gordon, and Kimberly Gordon. Cousins, Charlie Gordon, Wayne Badger, Heather Gordon, Cora (Dovey) Severight, Missy Gordon, Elaine Strongquill and Arnold Strongquill.
Cyndigirl had a personality like no other, she was one of a kind. The second you saw her, you were laughing even if you didn’t feel like it because she had a hilarious sense of humor and seemed to know how to zero in on your funny-bone. Cyndi loved her children with all her heart and was just starting to be the best Koko in the world. Her grandchildren are her pride and joy. She had the courage to face anything and would have done anything to protect them, and will surely be watching over them. Cyndi had a very special bond with her nieces and nephews, she always told them “you’re my babies too”. Cyndi’s ultimate career dream job was to be the first female Chief of the Assembly of First Nations so that she could help First Nations People – she used to always say, “I want to rule the world with an iron fist” with her fist in the air. Her hilarious sense of humor is something we all loved, but she always knew when was the right time to get serious in order to get her business done, both at the home and the workplace. Cyndi lived life to the fullest; enjoying every moment life had to offer.
A Wake and Prayer Service was held September 10, 2012 at the Yorkton Friendship Centre, Yorkton, Saskatchewan with Ricky Flamont officiating. The Funeral Service was held September 11, 2012 also from the Yorkton Friendship Centre with Cyndi’s cousin, George Cote officiating. The Interment followed at the Yorkton City Cemetery with Earl Gordon, Wayne Gordon, Dwayne Swiftwolfe, Jesse Hunter, Buddy Gordon and Buddy Gordon Jr. serving as casket bearers. Honorary pallbearers are all of those she shared laughs and happy times with.
