Earl Joseph Bourgeois, age 80, formally of Lower Cove passed away peacefully with his loved ones by his side on Friday, September 7, 2012 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre . Born in Lower Cove on June 20, 1932, he was a son of the late Harry & Beatrice (Cormier) Bourgeois.
Earl was a talented musician, self-taught and could play anything with a string. Earl enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and farming. He had a great love of animals. He worked at the Joggins Coal Mine for many years. Earl was a bus driver before going to work at the Sifto Salt Plant.
Earl will be sadly missed by his wife Dora Bourgeois; daughters, Tammy (Mark) Hicks of Amherst Head, Bonnie (Corey) Morris of Great Village, NS, Paula (Carl Fulton) Bourgeois of Springhill, Janna (Jack) MacAloney of Southampton, 8 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren; sister, Theresa Smith of Amherst; brothers, Edward (Eva) & Victor both of Lower Cove; several nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Furlong-Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St. Amherst, NS (667-8777). A memorial service will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church on Friday, September 14, 2012 at 10 am.
