ROSS, ROBERT LAYTON - Robert Layton Ross passed away peacefully at the K.E. Spencer nursing home on Thursday, September 13, 2012. He was born in Moncton on September 23, 1938, a son of the late William and Beulah Ross. Robert will be sadly missed by his wife Janice (Spence) Ross of 47 years, son Daniel of Edson, AB, daughter Susan (Blaine) Gaudet of Riverview, NB, brothers; Leslie (Evelyn) and Warren (Ruth) of Moncton, NB and by his sister-in-law Beverly Greig of Moncton, NB. granddaughter Emily Ross of Edson, AB, grandsons Jackson and Cole Gaudet of Riverview, NB. Robert was predeceased by his sisters; Gertrude, Doreen, Shirley and Elva and by brothers; Russell and Hank. Robert began his military career with the Royal Canadian Dragoons, then served his country as a fire fighter in the Air Force and Navy throughout his 33 year career. He served in Cyprus and Lahr, Germany and was also stationed in Gagetown, NB, Cold Lake, AB, Shearwater, NS, returning home to Moncton in 1989. Robert enjoyed writing and kept a journal throughout his travels, listening to music or playing guitar, he also enjoyed a good hand of poker. He enjoyed hockey through his life and was a student on the golf course.
The family will be receiving guests at Fair Haven funeral Home on Tuesday, September 18th, 2012 from 12:00 to 2:00. A funeral service will follow visitation in the Chapel of Fair Haven Funeral Home. Refreshments and memories will be shared in the Garden View Reception Room immediately following the funeral service.
