It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of James ‘Jim’ Bradley Kuta on Sept. 14, 2012, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital at the Palliative Care Unit with his loving family by his side.
He passed away after a short courageous battle with ALS.
Jim was born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Walter “Laddie” and Maude Kuta.
In his earlier years, Jim worked for Upper Lake Shipping; the remainder of his working years, he was employed as a miner for Devco where he will be remembered as a hard working miner. Jim loved to play the accordion and guitar while entertaining family and friends.
Jim is survived by the love of his life, Bride (Lang), who he referred to as his angel; his daughter, Amy, North Sydney; son, Christopher, Ontario; grandchildren, Bria, Laura, Kayla and James. Jim is survived by his brothers, Walter (Ruby), Glace Bay, Roy (Marg), Ontario, Gerry (Linda) Boston, Bill (Anne), Glace Bay, and his best friend, David ‘DeDe”, Glace Bay; sister, Elsie Bonderud (Bob), Ottawa; as well as many nieces and nephews. Bride’s sisters, Patsy Fenner, Marie Lang, Pearl Baker (Jerry Sampson), Bride’s daughter, Karen (David) Mercer; two grandchildren, Shawn and Taylor Mercer.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Joyce, brother-in-law, Pat Nolan, Bride’s brother, Vince Lang. Jim’s special pet dog, Chico who he thought the world of.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be Tuesday, Sept. 18 at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, from 7-8:30 p.m. with prayers to follow at 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ALS Foundation.
