It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our loving Calvin after a short but courageous battle with cancer on Sept. 24, 2012, at the age of 58.
Born in Sydney Mines, Cape Breton, Sgt MacLean CD2 an RCAF Aerospace Control Operator was a member of 21 AC&W Sqn., 22 Wing North Bay. His loyalty, leadership, dedication and wit will be missed by those who served with him for over 33 years. Calvin also served as a volunteer with the North Bay Food Bank.
Calvin, dearly beloved husband to Patricia Buffett-MacLean (Perrin); proud stepfather of Alicia Ann Brown (Stephen) and Michael Joseph Brandon Buffett (Rhiannon) and treasured Poppy to granddaughter, Ayla Madeline Patricia Brown. Cherished son of the late Angus and Ethel MacLean of Cape Bretton Island, Nova Scotia (deceased).
Survived by his stepmother, Minnie MacLean and Aunt Jean Robertson, both of Cape Breton Island. Calvin will be sadly missed by his sisters, Mora Lytus (John) of Davenport, Florida, Jessie MacNeil (Tommy) of Georges River, N.S. and brothers, Angus MacLean (Glenda) of Florence, N.S. and Alan MacLean (Cheryl) of Rapid City, South Dakota.
Friends and family will be received at Hillside Funeral Services, North Bay, Ont. on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012 from 6- 9 p.m. A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Calvin Presbyterian Church, North Bay on Sunday, Sept. 30 at 3 p.m. Interment at the NMC, Beechwood Cemetery in Ottawa on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012 at 2 p.m.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to the staff on 3C for their efforts in caring for our loved one, our heartfelt appreciation to Heather McGuinty, case manager and nurse, Suzanne of CCAC for their professionalism over the last few months. Special thanks to Dr. Jinnah for her palliative support. I cannot say enough about the incredible support received from the Canadian Military in particular Major Delisle, Captain Fryia and MWO Patrick Moran for their assistance and support, understanding and caring when we needed it most, for that we are so thankful.
In Calvin’s honour, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
