McGUIRE, NATALIE (KARNES) - 1923 - 2012 - Natalie (Karnes) McGuire, age 89, of Gaithersburg, Maryland, formerly of Woodstock, passed away at home on Tuesday, October 2nd, 2012. Natalie was born in Woodstock, NB on August 8, 1923. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, John McGuire, formally of Woodstock and Newburgh, daughters Pam (Jim) Del Vecchio of Darnestown, Maryland and Melissa McGuire (Andy Miller) of Washington, D.C. She was blessed with eight beautiful grandchildren, Timmy, Philip, Andrew and Thomas Del Vecchio and Christian, Andrew, Catherine, and Andrew Miller. She was also loved by her many nieces and nephews. Natalie was the last of the 13 Karnes siblings as she was predeceased by her four brothers and eight sisters. Natalie graduated from Woodstock High School before getting her nurse’s training. Natalie cared for others as a Registered Nurse (RN) for nearly 20 years. As an RN, she worked in Calgary, Boston, Portland, Baltimore, Florida, and eventually settled in New York City. After Natalie and John were married in 1962, Natalie devoted her time and love to raising her daughters. John and Natalie resided in New York until 2002 when John retired and they moved to Maryland to be near their daughters and their families.
The family will be holding visiting hours on Friday evening from 7PM to 8:30PM at the Karnes Homestead. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 2 PM at St. Gertrude’s Catholic Church, Woodstock. Interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
