PETERSON, Jeannie, 55, of Bay Side Home, Barrington passed away Monday, October 8, 2012 in Bay Side Home. Born in Sandy Point she was a daughter of Alice Carter and the late Curtis Peterson. Jeannie was a loving mother to her daughter Katie. She graduated from Acadia University in 1979 with a BA and in 1980 with her B.ED, and later graduated from Dalhousie University with an MLIS degree. Jeannie loved to run. She was an avid researcher and wrote The Loyalist Guide. She provided new information on the Halifax Explosion and various other historical events. Jeannie was a contributor to the Canadian Encyclopedia published in 1985. Jeannie is survived by her daughter, Katie Sarah Noonan; brother, Floyd (Wanda) Peterson, Barrington; sister, Trudy, Toronto; nieces, Simone, Natasha and Nicole. Visitation will be Thursday from 7-9 p.m. in H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Shelburne where a funeral service will take place on Friday, October 12, 2:00pm with Pastor Deborah Hill officiating. Burial in Jordan Ferry Union Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or a charity of your choice.
