
Kenneth Trueman
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth D Trueman, age 81, at the Kennebec Manor Nursing Home, Saint John, NB on October 4, 2012.
Born in Amherst, he was a son of the late William and Helen (Patterson) Trueman.
Before moving to Saint John he lived in Point De Bute, Dorchester, and Sussex, moving back to Dorchester in 1984. His love of cattle took him to many cattle exhibitions, showing Short Horn Beef and later Holstein Dairy Cattle. He worked as a herdsman with the Dorchester Penitentiary, one year attaining the Top Honor List Herd in Canada, then worked for Grant and Vivian Floyd as a herdsman on their dairy farm in Sussex, finally working as Record of Performance Inspector for Agriculture Canada for 11 years. He was a member of the Dorchester United Church, the Sussex United Church, then transferred to Portland United Church in Saint John. He was a former Councillor, Deputy Mayor and Mayor of Dorchester, Director of the Maritime Winter Fair, and Dairy Show Chairman. He was a Past Chariman of the Sackville Memorial Hospital Foundation, a Member of the Sussex Lodge #4 Masons Holstein Canada, Past President of the Maritime Shorthorn Association and the Moncton Holstein Club.
He is survived by his wife, the former June Wells Gray, Saint John formerly of Amherst, Dorchester; son Darrell (Janet), Port Perry, On, their daughters Abby and Lauren; daughters; Dr. Susan Malone, Moncton NB, her children Laura, Emily and Patrick; Sharon Taylor, Sussex, her daughter Hilary, and Lori-Anne (Mark) Mortimer, of Menden, Mass, their children Graysen and Delaney; daughter in law Karen Trueman, Moncton, her daughter Brianne; sister, Irma Trueman, (Wallace Hale) Fredericton, NB; step-children, Dr. Susan J Gray (Edward "Ted" McCleave), Saint John, NB, their children Mei Ling, Xian Ming; Howard M Gray (TerryLynn Doncaster), Amherst, NS., his children Benjiman, Katie, Sarah and her son Evan.
He was predeceased by his son David and son-in-law Ken Taylor.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St, Sackville (506-364-1300) where visiting hours will take place on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral will take place at the funeral home on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 2 pm, Pastor David Eagles officiating. Burial will follow in the Point De Bute Cemetery. Sussex #4 Masonic Lodge will hold a memorial service Friday at 7:30 pm.
