John "Jack" Powell
POWELL, JOHN "JACK" HENRY - The death of Jack Powell occurred on Monday, September 24, 2012 unexpectedly at his home. Born September 14, 1933 he was a son of the late J. Harry Powell and Dorothy L. (Moore) Powell of Moncton, NB. From St. Thomas College, Chatham, NB, to St. Francis Xavier University, Antigonish, NS for his Bachelor of Commerce degree, Jack went on to McMaster University in Hamilton, ON for his Master of Business Administration. Traveling across Canada, Jack worked for the Canadian Coast Guard, Imperial Oil, British Columbia Research Council and Clarke Simpkins Ltd. It was in Vancouver that Jack found his love – boating. Until his retirement, Jack was President of his own yacht broker company, Tidewater Yacht Sales Ltd. Leaving to mourn are twin sisters Helen (Arthur) Baier, Cobourg, ON, and Dorothy (Stewart) Briggs, Dartmouth, NS; brothers Frank (Annabelle) Powell, Saint John, NB and Lee (Ludy) Powell, Vancouver, BC; five nephews and five nieces.
Following cremation, interment will take place in the Powell family burial plot, Hampton Rural Cemetery, Hampton, NB at a later date. Donations made to a charity of the donor’s choice are appreciated by the family.
