Gerald Killen, age 85 of Springhill passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 7, 2012 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre. Born in Springhill, he was a son of the late John and Alma (Canning) Killen.
Gerald worked as a coal miner in the Springhill mines until they closed, and later worked as a house painter for many years. He will be remembered by those who knew him for his sense of humor and kindness.
Gerald was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He will be missed by several nieces, nephews and friends.
Arrangements have been entrusted to AH Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill (597-2361). Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation at the funeral home on Monday, October 15, 2012 from 1-2 pm, followed immediately by a memorial service at 2 pm. Burial will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Gerald may do so the Lung Association.
