Elsie Eleanor Crook enterred this world in Humbolt, Saskatchewan on June 21, 1927. She was the eldest of 3 daughters, born to George & Margaret Crook. She passed away peacefully after a fight with cancer, on October 11 at the age of 85. Elsie and her family lived on the family farm in Stoddard Creek until approximately 1965. She then moved her family of 10 into Fort St John and drove taxi for Reni Dheni and when the business sold to Ken Gardener she continued driving for him. She later purchased her own car which made her and her family very proud.
In 1970, tragedy struck the family when the youngest son, George aged 7 was killed in a MVA. It happened just a few days after they had moved to an acreage in Charlie Lake. How sad & ironic.
Elsie enjoyed gardening, raised her own chickens and turkeys and always had several horses around. She was a regular at local horse shows and enjoyed riding around the hills near her home in Charlie Lake. She also enjoyed having her family around her and they shared many family events and gatherings in her home.
Elsie's deteriorating health led to her moving into Abbeyfield house for a while. When they could no longer care for her, she became a resident of the hospital and moved over to the new facility in June, then became a resident of the new care facility. That is where she spent her remaining days until her passing on Oct. 11, 2012.
Elsie is predeceased by her ex-husband John, Nov 1992, sons George, Aug 1970, Eldon, Nov 2003.
She is survived by 2 sisters, Dorothy Wine of Valleyview, AB & Joyce Fleck of Fort St John, BC, her son Ken & wife Louise, son Dale & wife Janet, son Leonard & wife Pearl, son Robert & wife Valerie, David & partner Tanya, all of Fort St John, son Phillip & partner Joanne, of Fort Nelson, daughter Cheryl Large & husband Owen of Lumby, BC, daughter Sharon Maier of Fort St John, BC. 22 grand children, and 35 great grand children. Elsie will be fondly remembered by her family.
