Passed peacefully away at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, St. John's on Tuesday, October 16, 2012, Jean O'Leary of Carbonear; formerly of Harbour Grace, age 78 years. Predeceased by husband: Gerald; parents: James and Lillian Piercey; sister: Myrtle Piercey. Left to mourn, two daughters: Jo-anne (Michael) Ethridge, Kitchener, ON and Karen (Davur) Hoj, Strendur, Faeroe Islands; three sons: Terry (Kim), Torbay, Michael (Denise), Bay Roberts and Brian, Harbour Grace; thirteen grandchildren: Michael, Amanda, Aiden, Jennifer, Brian, Theresa, Kerry, Sarah, Courtney, Krista, Joshua, Matthew and Samantha; ten great-grandchildren; three brothers: Gerald (Amy) Piercey, St. John’s, Ralph Piercey, Carbonear and Melvin (Emma) Piercey, Heart’s Content; four sisters: Edna (Herb) Crocker, Heart’s Content, Margaret (George) Penney, Carbonear, Sylvia (Bill) Peddle, Harbour Grace and Lorna (Dave) George, Heart’s Content; also a large number of other relatives and friends. At Jean’s request, cremation has taken place. Fr. Michael Barker conducted the Funeral Mass on Friday, October 19 at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Carbonear. Inurnment took place in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Harbour Grace. Donations in her memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of NL.
