It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother Mildred Gray, age 86 on Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt.
Born in St. John’s, Nfld., Mildred was the daughter of the late John and Dorothy (Reid) Jones. Mildred owned and operated Gray’s Dairy on Regent Street, North Sydney for many years. She loved playing bingo, cards, knitting, going to yard sales, her visits to the casino to play the slot machines and especially enjoyed fishing and hunting with her late husband Moffatt and family. Mom was happiest when her family was around and was always there when they needed her.
Mildred is survived by her children, daughters, Lucky (Geordie) Bissett, Joy Fraser, Gay (Bruce) Tizzard, Vivian (George) MacLean, Debbie (Bill) Guy and Diane Smith and son, Moffatt (Helen) Gray; her 22 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Dorothy, Marjory, Vivian, Frances, Audrey and her brother, John and many nieces and nephews.
Mildred was predeceased by her husband, Moffatt Gray and sister, Louise.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of 3B and 4C of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital and Dr. Peter Poulos for the excellent care given to Mildred through this difficult time.
A private visitation and funeral service will be held for Mildred in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St. North Sydney with burial to follow in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton, the Canadian Cancer Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
