It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loving father on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2012, at the Palliative Care Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Arno was born Dec. 12, 1935, to the late Peter and Viola (Auxworthy) Roston.
Dad worked for 44 years with Coca-Cola Bottling. He devoted his life to his family, always having a kind word and a smile for everyone. He was an honorary member of the Grand Lake Road Fire Department and for many years enjoyed being a member of the Goodwill Mixed Dart League.
He especially enjoyed his summers in Beaver Cove and on the beach in Iona.
He is survived by his sons, Danny (Debbie), Arno (Nicole), Neil (Anita); his daughters, Inez (Jimmy) LeMoine and Marjorie (Jerry) Burke; his grandchildren, Stewie, Jeannie, John Paul, Danielle, Sarah, Robert, Jerry, Kelsey, Shawn, Jonathan, and an expectant grandchild; his great-grandchildren, Kayla, Kendel, Kara, Dylan and Hannah; sisters, Alma Davidson and Betty Dunphy; sister-in-law, Marguerite ‘Snooks’ (John) Woodburn; brothers-in-law, Billy (Shirley) MacKinnon, Alberta, and Johnny Mackinnon, Ontario. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who loved him dearly.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Margorie, brothers, Peter and Billy, sisters, Mary Hawco, Jeannette MacNeil, Rosie Chipman, Stella Johnson, Martina Young and Viola Roston, and our angel, great-granddaughter, Kira Huette.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at St. Joseph’s Church, with Fr. Conrad Edwards officiating. Interment to follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital and especially the An Cala Unit, Palliative Care.
In lieu of flowers donations, may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation and the Palliative Care Unit, Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
