Deal, John Freeman, 67 of New Minas, Kings Co. passed away on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Born in Kentville he was a son of Joyce M (Huntley) Deal & the late Norman A. Deal. John worked for fifty plus years in the automotive & industrial sales industry, retiring from UAP/ NAPA in 2010. He enjoyed family get togethers & spent many happy years attending sports with his sons. Besides his mother, he is survived by his former wife & good friend, Rita Deal; a daughter, Kelly (Terry Rushton), Berwick; sons, Christopher (Alison Mac Donald), Halifax; Tym (Barb), Dartmouth; six grandchildren, Jared, Taylor, Hannah, Lauren, Olivia & Rosalyn; brother, Donald (Halena), Canaan. John was predeceased by sister, Joan Helm & brother, Wayne. A sincere thank you is extended to family, neighbors & to those health care professionals involved with John during his recent illness. A special thank you to niece, Terri Delisle. Cremation has taken place. Visitation was held 7-9pm Monday evening & the memorial service took place at 2:00 pm Tuesday, Oct. 30 from the Annapolis Valley Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook (Exit14). Pastor Eva Van Buskirk officiated. Interment took place in Oak Grove Cemetery, Kentville. A reception followed the service in the funeral home. Family flowers only.
