DINES, MERRILL T - Loving husband of Jean (Ames, McLaughlin) passed away on Thursday, November 1st, 2012 at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, NB. Born February 3rd, 1923 at L’Etete, NB to the late Prescott and Lillian (Hooper) Dines. He joined the RCAF in the spring of 1941 and was discharged the spring of 1946, employed in Moncton with Maritime Central Air for two years, returned to L’Etete as Asst Lighthouse Keeper of the Greens Point Lighthouse until 1959, when he moved to St. Andrews, NB as owner of convenience store and motel from which he retired in 1976. He loved to travel. Surviving in addition to his wife Jean are his, son Rodney (Casey) Dines of St. Andrews, NB, grandson Colin Dines of BC, step son Wayne McLaughlin of Oak Haven NB, step daughter Gloria Barter, step grandsons Joe and Jeffrey Barter, St Stephen, NB. He was predeceased by his first wife Phyllis (McCullough) Dines in 2003 after 58 years of marriage.
By Merrills’ request cremation will take place, followed by a memorial service to be held on Monday, November 5th, 2012 in the chapel of Humphreys Funeral Home, 20 Marks Street, St Stephen, NB E3L 2B2 (506 466 – 3110) at 1:00 pm. The interment will take place in St. Andrews Rural Cemetery followed by a reception at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 8. The family will receive friends at the funeral home during a time of visitation on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A tribute to a Veteran Service will take place at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon at 4:00 pm. Donations to the charity of the donors choice would be appreciated by the family.
