Lois Theresa Sinnott (nee Eldershaw)
It is with heavy hearts that we say farewell to our beloved mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend, who passed away on Friday, October 26, 2012, in Waterloo, Ontario.
Lois was born in Morell PEI on December 31st, 1929, the second child of Charles and Agnes Eldershaw. She is survived by her brother Emmett and his wife Jean.
She is predeceased by her soul mate Owen. They were devoted to each other in marriage for over 59 years. She is also predeceased by her brothers Albon (husband of Peggy), and Keith (husband of Bernie who is also deceased), and her sister Yvonne (wife of Edward Mullen).
Her children and their families, Gerard and Marie; Mary and Dan (Gerbec) and Ian and Michael; Yvonne and Mark (Cormack), Andrew and Stephen; and Owen and Cailen, will cherish her memory especially through the countless photos they have collected over the years.
Lois was a faithful parishioner of St. Basil’s in Brantford, Ontario and loved volunteering with the CWL and St. Vincent de Paul. She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. Birds, the garden, baking biscuits, date squares and the peanut butter cookies with the fork mark in them, serving an endless supply of Red Rose tea, and a card game of crib or especially auction. She usually had a smile on her face which made those of us around her happy. The sparks of her sense of adventure will live on in the hearts of her children and grandchildren. She taught us so much more than she really knew or realized, to always reach for our dreams, and for that we are all truly thankful.
Mom always had a deep affection for Morell, a place she always called “home”. She has many friends and family there and she ventured back with Owen or her children almost every year since they left the Island in 1951. It is fitting that they chose Morell as their final resting place.
A funeral mass, celebrated on Tuesday, November 6th, at St. Theresa, Church of the Little Flower in Morell, PEI, followed by interment and a reception, is in homage to her life.
