O’DONNELL, ANNIE THELMA (SWEEZEY) - August 29, 1916 - November 3, 2012 - Annie O'Donnell passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Saturday evening, November 3, 2012, at the age of 96. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She died as she lived, with grace, humor, spirit and religious conviction. Her greatest happiness was her children, who loved and respected her with fond remembrances of happy family gatherings and celebrations. She will be remembered by her family for having provided a loving and happy home, for being proud of their individual accomplishments and for her strength and devotion to their father, during his declining years. Daughter of the late Gillis and Wilamina (Jardine) Sweezey, she was predeceased by her husband Edward; her granddaughter, Bonnie MacDonald Rowe; niece Kathleen Kelly. She is survived by her brother, Byron Sweezey, of Napan Bay; special nephews Berns Galloway and Bev Stymiest; her children, Byron (Judy) O’Donnell, of Pickering, Ont., Betty (Ed) Hospodar, of Dalhousie, Irene (David) Trask, of Dartmouth, Anna (Bob) MacDonald, of Napan, Kathy (David) Smith, of Moncton. She adored and was proud of her grandchildren’s accomplishments, Heather, Pam Hugh, Shawna (Hospodar), Angela and Alisa (Trask), Michael and Jeffrey (O’Donnell), Bonnie and Cheryl (MacDonald), Andrew and Struan (Smith). Her great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Ben, Ella, Taylor, Alexa, Brianne, Chloe, Nicholas, Matthew, James, Alexandra, Nolan and Kennedy were a great source of joy and focus in her later years. She was blessed by the daily care and affection she received from her friend and housekeeper of seventeen years, Debbie Jardine and by her many devoted caregivers in recent years, Donna, Cheryl, Anne, Caissie, Leona, Francis, Edna, Stephanie and Carmel. It is hoped she may find peace in passing as she did joy in living.
Friends may visit at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., on Wednesday, November 7, from 5 to 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Michaels Basilica, on Thursday, November 8, 2012, at 11 am, conducted by Father John Fraser, assisted by Father Dan Bastrache. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Please note, vigil prayers will be held at the funeral home Wednesday evening, at 6:50 pm. As expressions of sympathy, donations to any charity of the donors’ choice, would be appreciated by the family.
