It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Irene Myatt, at the MacGillivary Guest Home at the age of 94 years.
Irene was predeceased by her loving husband of 59 years, Frederick Robert Myatt, in 2002.
She was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Mary Anne ‘Min’ (Childs) Beck, brothers, Lloyd and Harold and sister, Evelyn (Beck) Couture.
She is survived by sister-in-law, Helen (Myatt) Hall; daughters, Carolyn Peters (Jim Sweeney), Donna (Alan Mosher) and Marianne Myatt; sons, David (Judy Ivany), Larry (Anna MacDonald); 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Irene was employed by Angel’s Grocateria in her early years. She was an active member of the former Christ Church in Sydney in the Altar Guild and ACW. She and Fred established and operated Myatt’s Dairy on Mira Road from 1971-92.
Irene enjoyed crocheting, needlework, sewing, and she also loved to spend many happy hours gardening. Irene thoroughly enjoyed playing the accordion and singing.
She also loved to spend time at their summer bungalow on the Mira with family and friends.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of the MacGillivary Guest Home for their kind and compassionate care over the past nine years.
Funeral is under the direction of Sydney Memorial Chapel. Visitation will take place on Monday, Nov. 5 from 7-9 p.m. A celebration of Irene’s life will be held at Christ The King Anglican Church in Sydney, N.S., on Tuesday, Nov. 6 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Laura McCue officiating.
Burial will take place in Hardwood Hill Cemetery following the service. Family members only. Reception to follow at St. George’s Hall, Nepean Street, Sydney.
