TORAK, Edward Borislaw- 86, Hartz Point, Shelburne County, passed away peacefully November 1, 2012 in Roseway Hospital with his family by his side. Born in Montreal he was a son of the late George and Tekla (Kowalysyn) Torak. Ed was a loving husband, father and grandfather. As a Design Engineer in HVAPE ,he worked in Montreal, Springfield, Mass, and then moved to Bermuda where they stayed for 26 years. In 1993 he moved to Shelburne, Nova Scotia with his wife Peggy to enjoy their Golden years. Ed was a man of many hats, involved in the Prince of Wales Militia and the Whirligig Festival, he was known by many and loved by all. You can remember him as the man in the Exhibition parade carrying Franky, the Red Coat puppet, both waving to everyone. You never knew when he would pull out a magic trick or tip his hairy hat to you but he would always bring a smile to everyone he met. He was always creating or building something special like his Ukranian Easter Eggs and his amazing Whirligigs. He will be missed by his wife of 61 years, Margaret “Peggy”; sons, Tommy (Laura) ,Hartz Point, Shelburne; Danny ( Samantha), Bermuda; brother, Fred, Shelburne; grandchildren, TJ, Kelsey,Crystal and Corey; step-grandchildren, Curtis, Angela and Eric; great granddaughter, Mariah, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his daughter, Wendy. No visitation by request. A Celebration of Life and a Time to say good-bye was held in H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Chapel Wednesday, November 7 at 2:00 pm. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Lodge That Gives, Halifax.Interment in Pine Grove Cemetery.
