It is with deep sadness that we must announce the passing of Renovia "Toots" Ruth (Maddison) Smith of Springhill. Toots passed away peacefully at the Highcrest Nursing Home on Sunday, November 11, 2012.
Born in Springhill, she was a daughter of the late James and Jarushia (MacAloney) Maddison.
Toots loved to play cards and was a "Card Shark" in her own mind. She also enjoyed baking, listening to music, spending time at the beach and with family. She was well known for her comical personality.
Toots will be dearly missed by her son David (Dorothy Hollis), Springhill, 3 grandsons, Michael, Stephen and Evan; 3 great grandchildren, Kate, Cormac and Bryia; several nieces and nephews.
The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was predeceased by her husband Kenneth M., brothers and sisters Kenneth, Clarence, Martha Miller, Greta Campbell, Genny Blenkhorn, James and Emmy Maddison.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the A H Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane St., Springhill, NS (902-597-2361). A graveside service will take place at the Hillside Cemetery on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 11 am.. Memorial donations in Toots's memory may be done to the charity of your choice.
