English, John "Jock" Joseph Harold - 1949 - 2012 - It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that Jock’s family announces his passing on Monday, November 12, 2012 at The Moncton Hospital after a courageous two year battle with cancer. Born and raised in Campbellton, Jock maintained a great connection to the area, particularly Point la Nim, where he enjoyed spending time at the family cottages. A graduate of Campbellton Composite High School, Jock obtained his degree in Mechanical Engineering from Queen’s University, before attending the University of Calgary where he graduated in Survey Engineering. A proud and accomplished engineer, he began his career in Montreal, and then went on to work at Intergraph in Huntsville, Alabama and Ottawa, Novalis Technologies in Halifax and finally in his most recent position as President and CEO of Intelysis Aviation Systems, Shediac, NB. It was the Intelysis “family “of bright young professionals that brought him his most challenging and rewarding career accomplishments in the last decade. He travelled internationally on behalf of Intelysis and established a wide network of friends and colleagues around the globe. A man of many talents and interests, he acquired his pilot’s licence at the Kingston Flying Club where his father had trained many years before for his role in the RCAF in WWII. Jock was an avid skier and runner, who loved to spend time with his Cap Brule buddies playing guitar. Often referred to by his friends and family as Mr. Gadget Man – he embraced technology and techie tools while enjoying the connectedness they afforded him with his family, friends and colleagues far and wide. An optimistic man, he lived his life with joy and hope for a better day, even as he struggled with cancer. He was a skillful and precise handyman who could build or repair anything. Jock was a quiet, kind and gentle man who had a deep sense of loyalty to his friends and family. Predeceased by his parents Joseph and June, he is survived by his wife of 15 years, Pamela Reid; his sisters, Karen Ash (Stephen), Wolfville and Keltie English (Mark Sadler), Halifax; sisters-in-law, Cheryl Wetmore (Clyde), Halifax and Heather Hawkes (Mike), Halifax; brother-in-law, Bob Reid, Riverview and many beloved nieces and nephews. Jock’s family extends their gratitude to Dr. B. Colwell, Dr. M. Grouse, Dr. J. McCrea, Dr. L. Searle, Dr. P. Mansfield, as well as the nursing teams in Halifax, Moncton and Shediac for their care, compassion and support.
There will be no visitation at the request of the family. A Celebration of Jock’s life will be held on Saturday November 17, 2012 at 1:00 pm, at Saint-Joseph Pastoral Centre, 417 Main St., Shediac, NB.
