MacMASTER, William David “Bill” – 68, Truro, passed away suddenly as a result of a heart attack on Tuesday, November 27, 2012. Born December 1, 1943, in Head of Jeddore, Halifax County, he was a son of the late Kathleen (Faulkner) MacMaster and stepson of the late Reginald Tripp. Bill worked with NS Drywall for many years and then went on to work with Fowler construction as a Foreman right up until the time of his death. While working at Fowler Construction, a workplace that Bill thoroughly enjoyed and where he was treated with the utmost respect, he made many life long friends, colleagues and acquaintances. He was a member of Carpenters Union Local 83 for over 30 years. In earlier years, Bill enjoyed many Olands with his friends and working on his hobby farm in Upper Kennetcook. An extensive traveler, he enjoyed winters in Texas, Florida and Mexico and also trips to Alaska and abroad. Bill preferred to drive to his destinations and was always anxious to get the fifth wheel on the road for the next camping season. He enjoyed camping at Riverland Campground and Ponhook Campground with family and always enjoyed a good game of washer toss. Bill always looked forward to coming home at the end of the day and enjoying a cigar on the front porch with his canine companion, Koby. He also enjoyed spending time with Buddy, another canine companion, who passed away. Bill is survived by his wife, Joan (Allday); son, Arthur “Artie” (Angela) MacMaster, Bible Hill; step-sons, Patrick “Pat” Skerry, Lawrencetown; David Skerry, Halifax; daughter-in-law, Karen Skerry, Lawrencetown; grandchildren, Seanna (James) Rose, North River; Kayla MacMaster, Bible Hill; step-grandchildren, Jacob Burns, Zack Skerry, Tyler Munroe-Skerry, Reese Munroe-Skerry; great grandchildren, Madison Rose, Leah Rose; brother, Reginald “Reg” (Judy) MacMaster, Halifax; former wife, Ida (Ettinger) MacMaster, Hardwoodlands; many nieces and nephews. Along with his mother and stepfather, he was predeceased by his brother, Bernie MacMaster. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Bill’s family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m., today, November 29, 2012, and where the funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 30, 2012. Interment in St. John The Baptist Anglican Church Cemetery, Latties Brook. Flowers or donations in Bill’s memory to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia are welcomed.
