Dr. Ashok Muzumdar
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a wonderful loving husband, Dad and Grandad. Ashok passed peacefully in his sleep in Ottawa on 30 November, 2012. He is survived by his loving wife, Anita, his dearly loved children, son Keiran (Lee Anne), daughters Nina (Chris) and Lisa Cameron (Rick), his precious grandchildren, Holly, Caroline, Charlotte, Clara, Robbie, Andrew and Rory. Also survived by his sister Shaku and brother Gireesh.
Predeceased by his father, Shrinivas, his mother Indumati and sister Rajini.
Ashok was born in Karwar, India, on 20 February, 1940. He was a graduate of the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College, Indore, India. In his early career he practiced emergency medicine in the United Kingdom. He fulfilled his dream of moving to Canada where he received his training and specialty qualifications in Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine from the University of British Columbia (Vancouver). In Canada, he practised in Vancouver, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island before retiring to Ottawa to be close to his children and grandchildren. He played an active role in the Canadian Medical Association. He was the founder of the Canadian Association of Physicians with Disabilities and, more recently, the founder of the Canadian Society of Senior and Retired Physicians. He cared deeply for his patients. His love of life and sense of humour lives on in his children and grandchildren. His greatest love was his family.
A service celebrating Ashok’s life will be held at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road, Ottawa, on Thursday, 6 December, 2012, at 2 p.m., followed by a reception.
