John 'Joey' Rendell

It is with our deepest regret that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of a son, brother, father, grandfather and uncle. Joey passed away peacefully in his sleep at his residence in Sydney Mines on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012.
Born in Sydney Mines on Oct. 14, 1947, he was the oldest son of Joe Rendell and the late Cecilia (MacNeil) Rendell.
Besides his father, Joey is survived by a sister, Pauline (Garry) Simms, Sydney River; brothers, Wayne (Linda), Bras d'Or, Leo, Ontario and David, Sydney Mines. He also leaves behind to mourn his daughter, Peggy, Surrey, B.C.; his two precious grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his mother, Cecilia; brothers, Gerard and Stanley; paternal and maternal grandparents; sister-in-law, Miriam and his niece, Laurie Ann.
In honouring his wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, Main Street, Sydney Mines. A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at 11 a.m. in Jobes Funeral Home, with Deacon Greg Murphy officiating.
