The family of George Kavanagh wish to announce his peaceful passing , at his home, on Monday, Dec. 10, 2012.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late James and Violet (Kanary) Kavanagh.
George is survived by his wife, Ann (Hayes); son, James and daughters, Violet and Eileen; his brother, Bill; sister, Marie and his grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Irene and Violet; brother, James.
George served 31 years in the military at bases in Canada, Europe and the Middle East. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 3, John Bernard Croak.
At George’s request, cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Curry’s Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay. There will be no visitation. A funeral mass celebrating George’s life will be held on Thursday, Dec. 13, at 11 a.m. in St. Leo’s Church, Glace Bay. The Rev. Leo Boone will be officiating.
The family invite you to a reception, following the service, in the church hall. Interment will be at a later date.
