(1922-2012). It is with great sadness that we announce that Dr. Duncan Rice passed away peacefully on December 11th in the presence of his loving son and daughter-in-law. Dr. Rice was preceded by his wife Olive Rice and is leaving to mourn his son, Alistair Rice, his daughter-in-law, Claire Rice, his grandchildren, Jeremy and Jennifer Rice and his great-granddaughter, Mélodie Rice. Aged 90 years, Dr. Rice came to Newfoundland in 1958 where he spent many years working at the TB dispensary in St. John’s before working at the Sanatorium and lastly at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital. Dr. Rice, an avid golfer, became co-founder of the Newfoundland and Labrador Golf Association and President of the Bally Haly Golf Club before returning to England in 1984, where he spent his retirement. He was greatly loved and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
