NELSON, Bonita Rosalie Nelson, 57, of Spryfield, passed away at home on Monday, December 10, 2012. She was the daughter of Elsie Nickerson Owen and the late Ashton Nickerson of Port Saxon. She is survived by her son, Gary Newell (Sherry) of Saskatoon, daughters, Trina Bethelmy (Kerry) of Ontario, Nickelle, at home; grandchildren, Damien and Tiana; brother, Ashton Nickerson (Sharon), Alberta; sister, Lilla Porter (John), Port Saxon; step-father, Edward Owen, Port Saxon; her best friend and companion, Bruce Jefferson. She was predeceased by sisters, Audrey Haynes, Halifax and Gail Nickerson, Shelburne. Bonny was a hairdresser for over 25 years in the Shelburne and Halifax areas, until she was diagnosed with cancer in 1998. She fought a long and courageous battle, fighting many diseases until she could finally fight no more. She lived to see her daughter Nickelle graduate, which was her goal in life. “Thank God” for letting her do that. She will always be remembered for her terrific strength. Cremation has taken place. She was buried in Pine Grove Cemetery, Shelburne. The memorial service was held on Friday, December 14, her sister, Pastor Lilla Porter officiating. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Lighthouse Christian Fellowship Church, Port Clyde.
