Madonna 'Donna' Higgins

It is with great sorrow we the family announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and sister, Donna Higgins at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on Dec. 10, 2012.
Born in Dominion, she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Elizabeth (MacNeil) Reid.
In earlier years Donna worked for American Express and in the travel industry, both in Toronto and Sydney, she enjoyed reading, darts, bingo and sewing.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (Barry), Alberta and son, William (Leslie), Ontario; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild; sisters, Mary T. MacDonald, Glace Bay, Bernadette Perin, New Waterford; brothers, Frank (Mary), Baddeck, and Joseph (Bess), Ontario, as well several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she was also predeceased by her husband, James ‘Jimmy’, sisters, Ruth, Peggy, and Agnes, brother, Roddie, brothers-in-law, Raymond MacDonald, Richard MacInnis and Aloyious Roach.
Cremation has taken place and a funeral mass to celebrate Donna’s life will be held Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at 11 a.m. in the parish of Immaculate Conception Church, Bridgeport, with Fr. Daniel Boudreau officiating. Burial in Ocean Avenue Cemetery followed by a reception in the parish hall.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, 862-7500.
