MITCHELL, Allan of Calgary, AB and formerly of Orkney, SK passed away at Calgary on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 with his family at his side at the age of 72. He was born at Climax, SK on May 27, 1940. He was the beloved husband of Shirley Mitchell for thirty-six years. Allan also leaves to cherish his memory five children: his two sons Terry and Darren, and three step-children Rick (Karen), Candy (Darryl) and Barb (Doug). Also, his like-a-daughter friend Heather Miller and his dearly loved grandchildren and great grandchildren, two sisters and two brothers: Shirley (Lyle), Margret (Bob), Donnie (Karin) and Glen, two sisters-in-law: Larilyn and Donna. He leaves many nieces, nephews and friends to miss him. Allan was predeceased by his mother and father Harry and Hazel and two brothers Gordon and Lorne. Allan and Shirley owned a frame and body shop in Calgary and when they retired he and Shirley moved to Climax. Allan spent much of his time at the Mitchell family farm at Orkney helping Donnie and Mark with the farming. In the winter months Allan and Shirley spent many happy days in Yuma, Arizona. Allan was diagnosed with ALS a few years ago and when his health deteriorated they moved back to Calgary until his death. Funeral Services were held in Calgary, AB on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. from Pierson’s Forest Lawn Chapel. Interment took place at Orkney Cemetery at Orkney, SK on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Orkney Hall, Box 14, Orkney, SK S0N 1V0.
