It is with heavy hearts that we, the family of Hugh McMullin, announce his passing on Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Joseph and Agnes (MacDougall) McMullin.
Hugh will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 57 years, Mary (Dziubek) McMullin; also sons, Raymond and Vincent; sisters, Margaret and Mary MacDonald.
He was predeceased by a son, Douglas in 1985; sister, Agatha; brothers, Donald Joseph, Benedict, John A., James, Anselm, and Lawrence.
Hugh was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier University; in 1952 Hughie began his career with the Royal Bank in Sydney and then spent 36 years with Air Canada in Sydney.
Hugh was a dedicated family man. He was an avid sports fan and athlete in both hockey and golf and a former goalie with the St. F.X.U. hockey team.
He was also fully dedicated to his faith, by giving of his time to St. Theresa’s parish and St. Mary’s Polish parish, Sydney.
We, the family, wish to express profound gratitude to Dr. Carol Critchley and the staff of the I.C. U. Dept. at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital who cared for him with compassion during his illness.
Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, Dec, 16, 2012 at T. W. Curry Parkview Chapel. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at St. Joseph’s Church, with Rev. Jim Oliver officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
