Peacefully with her family close by at the Prince Edward Home Palliative Care Unit in Charlottetown on Tuesday, May 13, 2008, of Catherine LaPierre (nee Stewart) of Red Point, aged 82 years. Beloved wife of the late James E. LaPierre. Loving mother of George (Lynne) of Hamilton, Norma (Tim) Mossey of Charlottetown, Blair (Heather) of Stratford, Stephen (Mary) of Red Point, Colleen of Souris and Annette (David) Wilson of Charlottetown. Loving grandmother to Amanda LaPierre, Tammy (Martin) Murphy, Terry (Jody), Teddy (Stacey), Timmy (Karen), Trisha and Tessa Mossey, Jody LaPierre, Tracy (Haldane) Croucher and Jamie-lyn LaPierre, Karen, Michael, Paul and Matthew LaPierre, Bradly, Vanessa, Nicholas, Staci, Darcy and Mitchell Paquet. Great-grandmother to Kalle and Emily LaPierre, Kiely Murphy, Nathan and Sara Mossey, Madeline Mossey, Keira Mossey, Jack LaPierre, Daniel Clinton, Lytisha Paquet, Zoie Paquet and Sean Paquet. Also left to mourn are sisters-in-law Margaret Stewart, Dot LaPierre, brother-in-law Egbert Boertien and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Harvey and Genevieve “Eva” Stewart of Kingsboro; brothers Peter, Harold; sisters Mabel MacLaren (May 26, 1954) and Florence Boertien (May 14, 2007) and two infant sisters. Resting at the Belvedere Funeral Home, Charlottetown, for visiting hours on Wednesday, May 14, from 7-9 p.m., then transferred to the Dingwell Funeral Home, Souris, for visiting hours on Thursday, May 15, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Friday, May 16, from 11:30 a.m. until time of the funeral. Funeral to be held Friday afternoon from St. Mary’s Church, Souris, with funeral mass to be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Interment in the church cemetery. If so desired donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, Canadian Diabetes Association or the Prince Edward Home Memorial Fund would be appreciated.
