SHIRLEY'S CHRISTMAS PUDDING
1/2 C molasses, 1/2 C brown sugar, 1 C milk, 4 Tbs melted shortening, 1 Tbs baking soda, 2 C flour, 1 tsp ginger, pinch of salt
3/4 cup each of preserved ginger root,dates & seeded raisins
Mix first 8 ingredants together,then add fruit and mix well.
Fill greased coffee tins 2/3 full of pudding mixture then put into large pot
of boiling water. Cover pot & boil low for 1 1/2 hours.

For the sauce: 3Tbs Brown sugar, 2 Tbs butter, 1 Tbs flour, add a bit of water and stir. When thickened add 2 tsp vinegar.
