Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre after a brief illness, on Monday, December 24, 2012 at the age of 77 years. Predeceased by his precious daughter, Carol Clarke; parents: Thomas and Lucy Bartlett; mother and father-in-law: Harold and Jean French; dear sister, Mary; and brothers: Thomas and Chesley. Leaving to mourn, his loving wife of 55 years, Joan (nee French); daughter, Jackie Parsons (Gary); son, David (Carol); son-in-law, Jim Clarke; precious grandchildren: Curtis Parsons, Jacqueline Clarke, Alexander, Owen and Ella Bartlett; brother, Douglas (Ruby); sister, Olga: and brother-in-law, Frank Holwell; as well as many other relatives and a large circle of friends. John was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge Westmoorland No. 24 GR NL and was Band Director Emeritus Mazol Oriental Band. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, Thursday and Friday from 10 - 12 noon, 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from Church of St. Mary the Virgin, Craigmillar Avenue, on Saturday December 29, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow in the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road.
