Laurie Kitchener Stevens - 71, of Berwick, formerly of Kentville, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2013 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Kentville, he was a son of the late Alfred and Carrie (White) Stevens. Laurie was a special person who left a positive impression on everyone he met. Throughout his life, he worked as a messenger for the Dominion Atlantic Railway, a painter with Cleveland’s Oil and Paint and on the gypsum boats, travelling to ports in Canada and the United States. He is survived by five sisters, Carol (Stewart) Brothers, Coldbrook; Barbara (Rick) Quesnel, Centreville; Gloria (Ken) Johnson, Coldbrook; Sylvia (Peter) O’Brien, Wolfville; Patti (Peter) Upshaw, Aldershot; four brothers, Terry (Linda), Beaverbank; George, Kentville; Brian (Tina), Kentville; Rickey (Madonna), Coldbrook; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Allen and Bill. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2013 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2013, Reverend Marilyn Rose officiating. Burial took place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Donations in memory may be made to the Valley Regional Hospital Foundation. A special thank you to New Visions, Berwick and the nurses and staff of Medical B at the Valley Regional Hospital.
