Irene MacIntyre, 94, of Sydney, passed away in Harbourstone Enhanced Care, on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013.
Born in Port Morien, Irene was the daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Anderson) Burns.
A longtime resident of Vista Heights, 312 Esplanade, Irene was a member of the Sydney Pensioners Club and was an active bowler and a very competitive shuffleboard player.
Irene is survived by her sons, Donald (Marilyn), Chick (Raylene), Gus (Chris); her daughters, Joan MacIntyre, Mary Gamble, Irene MacLeod, Beverley MacIntyre and Clare MacNeil (Neil); and a large number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Irene is also survived by her sisters, Jean MacDonald, Ada Grayson, Risa Horelick and Martha Burns.
Irene was predeceased by her husband, Donald, her sons, Douglas and Robert, her grandson, Jason Shepherd, as well as her sisters, Ivy and Josephine and her brothers, Clarence, Percy and Ed.
Visitation will take place at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel today (Tuesday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony Daniel Church with Rev. Donald MacGillivary officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
