TRENTON – Myra McMullen, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 6, 2013 in the Dartmouth General Hospital, leaving to miss her, a dearly beloved daughter, Bonnie Melodie and son-in-law Harold Penney; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, each having a special place in her heart.
Myra was a retired civil servant, having worked in the Trenton Post Office for 26 years. She attended Maritime Business College in New Glasgow. An ardent artist, she really enjoyed painting and her work graces many homes in Canada and the United States. She was a member of the First United Church, Trenton, Senior Choir, Naomi Unit and a lifetime member of the UCW. She was Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Trenton Fire Department; member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Canadian Fire Chiefs Association; charter member of the NS Heritage Postal Association; member of the Pictou County Artist Association and Past Secretary of the Pictou County Senior Festival.
Myra was predeceased by her dearly loved husband, Gordon in 1991 after a lengthy illness.
There will be no visitation by request. Funeral service 1 p.m. Sunday, January 13 in the First United Church, High St., Trenton, with Rev. Dr. Ken MacLeod officiating. Following the service, all are welcome to a reception in the First United Church Hall. Burial will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope for Wildlife, Seaforth, NS, or a charity of choice.
