It is with deep sadness that we must announce the unexpected passing of Floyd Hicks, age 84, of Sackville.
Floyd passed away peacefully at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Thursday, January 3, 2013, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Midgic, he was a son of the late Arden and Ruby (Chase) Hicks.
Floyd began working with Beale and Inche Construction as a Heavy Equipment Operator. He went on to work in Heavy Equipment with the Town of Sackville. In later years he was the Town Foreman for the Water and Sewer, retiring after 38 years. An avid hunter, he loved all outdoor activities like four wheeling, gardening and camping. A family man, he was very dedicated to his children and grandchildren.
He will be dearly missed by his wife of 61 years, Eunice (Duncan), British Settlement; children Sharon (Dale) Ward, British Settlement, Barry (Rhonda), British Settlement, Marsha (John) Thompson, Pictou, N.S., Brent (Lori Marsh), British Settlement and Tracy (Troy Lorette), Westcock; special daughter-in-law Lottie Hicks, Sackville; 10 grandchildren, Wayne, Terri, David, Shawn, Stacey, Derrick, Tory, Becky, Jordan and Jessica; 9 great grandchildren, Hunter, Christopher, Tristian, Kyla, Rylan, Wesley, Naudia, Katerina, and Riley; sisters; Erma Bulmer, Sackville, and Daphna (Richard) Harvey, Sackville; brothers; Roland (Nita) Hicks, Napanee, ON; and Carmen Hicks, Sackville.
He was predeceased by his brothers Merlyn and Calvin.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville, N.B., (506-364-1300), where visiting hours took place on Friday, Jan. 4, from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 5, from 2 to 4 p.m. The funeral service was held on Sunday, January 6, 2013, at 2 p.m. Pastor Andrew Swanson officiated. Burial will take place in the Westcock Cemetery in the spring.
