The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, of Deacon Cyrus J. Gallant of Summerside and formally of Egmont Bay. Cyrus was born on June 13, 1933, in St. Philippe to his late parents Joseph E. and Lumina (nee Gaudet) Gallant. He was ordained Permanent Deacon in his parish of St. Philippe and St. Jacques on Jan. 9, 1977, by Bishop Francis Spence. He is survived by brothers and sisters Edmond (Evéline) Gallant of St. Philippe, Norma (Albert) Arsenault of St. Chrysostome, André (Marielle) Gallant of Abram-Village and Jeannette (Gordon) Farrell of Egmont Bay. He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. He was a member of the Summerside Knights of Columbus Council 2070. Resting at Evangeline Co-op Funeral Home, Urbainville, until Monday, Jan. 14, then to the St. Philippe and St. Jacques Church, Egmont Bay, for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment in the church cemetery. Visitation to take place on Sunday, Jan. 13, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers, donations to Prince County Hospital and the Summerset Manor would be greatly appreciated.
