Surrounded by her loving family, the death of Helen Marguerite MacLean (nee Pound), beloved wife of the late Alton MacLean, formerly of South Freetown and Glen Valley, occurred at the Wedgewood Manor, Summerside, on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at age 85. Helen was the cherished mother of Jerry (Cheryl), Jackie MacLean (Mack), Roddy (Heather), Terry (Bonnie), Kathy Drummond (Dale) and Rebecca MacLean Woodside (Blake); treasured grandmother of Dr. Nicholas (Robin), Mitch (Erika), Chad (Jessica) and Brooks MacLean; John (Marie) and Adam MacLean; Laura, Jill, Lesley and Paige MacLean; Lauren and Chet MacLean; Taylor, Katie and Kristie Drummond; and Sarah and Rachel Woodside; and great-grandmother of Sophie and Phillip MacLean; and Ethan MacLean. She is also survived by sisters, Norma Stewart, Ann Coneen; brother, Donnie Pound (Betsy); sisters-in-law, June Gardiner (Russel), Onie Pound and Evelyn Pound; brother-in-law, Reg Nicholson (Betty); and numerous nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by her parents, William and Blanche (Taylor) Pound; granddaughter, Amanda MacLean; brothers, Lowell, Melvin, George, Reagh and Lloyd; and sisters, Eliza, Clara, Tressa, Jean and Ora. Resting at Central Queen’s Funeral Home, 2538 Glasgow Road, New Glasgow, for visitation on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral will be held at Central Queen’s Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, Jan. 16, at 10:30 a.m. Interment in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
