Michael Chandler
CHANDLER, MICHAEL W. - 1925 - 2013 - Miramichi, N.B. - Michael Watson Chandler, husband of the late Catherine J. Chandler, of Moorehead Lane, Miramichi, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, on Sunday evening, January 13, 2013, at the age of 87. Born in Birmingham, England, on January 22, 1925, he was the son of the late George W. and Muriel (Baker) Chandler. He was an engineer by profession and the Manager of Geo. Burchill & Sons Plywood Ltd. For eighteen years and until his retirement, was an employee of Repap N.B. Ltd. He was a Veteran of the Second World War, serving with the British Army’s 2nd Parachute Squadron R.E., in Italy and Greece and the 3rd Airborne Squadron R.E. in Java and Palestine. He is survived by several nieces and nephews, Geoffrey Barnes (Elizabeth), David Barnes (Eve), Robert Barnes (Kathy), Katherine Tweedie, Charlotte Tweedie, John Tweedie (Lori), David Tweedie, John Chandler, Keith Chandler. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Catherine J. Tweedie, in 2008.
Visitation will be at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi, on Monday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A public memorial service will be held from St. Andrews Anglican Church, Miramichi, on Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at 11 am, conducted by the Venerable Richard Steeves. Interment will be in the Tweedie Family Lot at Riverside Cemetery, Miramichi, N.B., later in the spring. Following the service, a reception will be held with the family at St. Andrews church hall. As expressions of sympathy, donations to any charity of the donors’ choice, would be appreciated by the family.
