MacKinnon, Ivy Audrey Carolyn (Craik) – 83, Truro passed away peacefully January 15, 2013 in Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro. Born in Newcastle, N.B., she was a daughter of the late Robert Franklyn and Ruth Janie (MacCaull) Craik. Ivy was very proud of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing and knitting for them. She and John spent seventeen winters in Florida and many summers at their family cottage at Cape John. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish, Truro and a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26, Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, John J.; daughters, Mary Agnes (Larry) Collins, Debert, Ruth Ann (Steven) Hutchinson, Truro, Margaret Cecilia (Curtis) Pyke, Wellington, Carol Elizabeth “Betty” (Michael) Chapman, Truro; sons, John James “Jim” (Wendy), Truro, Andrew Joseph (Lindsay), Truro, Gordon Francis (Kim), Medicine Hat, Alta.; sister, Mary Jane Craik, River John; brother, Stephen (Rachel) Craik, Moncton, N.B.; grandchildren, Patricia, Catherine, and Nathan, Diane, Tom, Gordon and Bob, Christina and Colin, Charlene and Elizabeth, Sarah and Eric, Alec, Mathew and Alexandra; seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by brothers, Herbert Winston, Robert Franklyn Jr.; sisters, Dorothy Elizabeth “Sally” Mather, Roberta Ruth Smierciak. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 20th from 7-9 pm with a Royal Canadian Legion Branch 26 Ladies Auxiliary Tribute at 6:45 pm in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro; funeral mass Monday, January 21st at 10:30 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 669 Prince Street, Truro. Spring interment in Robie Street Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the IWK Children’s Hospital or a charity of choice.
