Date de décès : 24 janvier 2013

Alma Mary Demytruk, of Digby, Nova Scotia, passed away on January 16th, 2013. She was born in Doucetteville, December 1st, 1920, the third daughter of the late Angus and Elizabeth (Lizzie Thibodeau) Thibault. Alma grew up the middle child in a family of 10 children in Doucetteville where she learned what would become her passion – cooking and baking. As a young lady, she moved to Yarmouth to work, where she met Steve, the man who would become her husband. Soon after they were married, they moved to Geraldton in Northwestern Ontario where they lived for 40 years, working and raising their family. One of Mom's greatest pleasures in Geraldton was being taught to cook by her friends from varied ethnic groups and serving dishes from many different countries around the world. She also enjoyed spending hours fishing with Dad for pickerel and trout on the lakes and rivers in that area. In 1983, they moved back to Digby, Nova Scotia to enjoy their retirement surrounded by family and many new friends. There was nothing Alma loved to do more than bake and cook in her kitchen and her greatest thrill was to prepare large meals and have her table full of people enjoying it. She also looked forward to giving gifts of her home made perogies to everyone at Christmas. Her second passion was reading and it was rare to see her without a book in her hand when she was relaxing. She was a member of St. Patrick’|s Roman Catholic Church, where she was a long-time member of the Catholic Women's League and Choir. Surviving are her children, Donna (David) and Bill (Teresa), two brothers, Freddie (Flora) and Earl (Rita), sister-in-law Geneva and brother-in-law Reg. She was predeceased by her husband, Steve, her Mom and Dad, her sisters, Emilie, Cerita, Celina, Lorena and Jeannette, and her brothers Elysee and Gardie. Funeral Service took place on January 19th with Interment in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Doucetteville. Father Henry Smolenaars officiated. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Alma may be made to Tideview Terrace Recreation Department, P.O. Box 1120, DIGBY, NS., B0V 1A0 or the Sacred Heart Cemetery Fund, c/o Don Blinn, P.O.
