Anne (nee Anna Hafichuk) Quathamer
10 March 1926 to 13 January 2013
The second daughter of Mary and William Hafichuk, she was born in Ethelbert, MB where Mary had gone for her confinement at her parents’, Ostap and Dokia Kotyk, homestead. Anne grew up on a farm in the Coteau Hills south of Moose Jaw, SK. She attended the Ranch School finishing Grade 8. Out of school she worked on the family farm, at the family corner store with her sister Olga and in a Chinese restaurant in Moose Jaw. Anne eventually moved to MacTier, ON and on 13 June 1950 married Turk Quathamer in Sudbury, ON. In 1959 the family moved to Humphrey Twp, ON. In 1991 Anne and Turk moved to their retirement log cabin in Creston, BC. Anne is survived by her four children Judy, Jay, Jami and Jeffrey; six grandchildren and one great-grandson. She is also survived by sister Olga Hnylycia, Moose Jaw, SK; brothers: Peter, Ottawa, ON; and Dan (Patricia) Regina, SK; the Nicholas Kotyk family of Toronto, ON plus numerous nieces and nephews and their offspring on the Quathamer side of the family in Saskatchewan. Donations to the Osteoporosis Society may be made in honour of Anne and her nearly 30 year battle with this crippling disease. A Memorial Service will be held at Christ Church Anglican, Creston BC at 1100 hrs, 25 January 2013. A private family internment of ashes will take place later.
