It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jeanette Catherine (Shaw) Gerrow of Sydney Mines. Jeanette passed away peacefully on January 27th, 2013 at the Northside General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Sydney Mines she was the daughter of the late John and Catherine (MacMullin) Shaw.
Jeanette was employed at St. Elizabeth's Hospital (Northside General Hospital) until retirement. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish and a resident of Northside Community Guest Home.
Jeanette was an avid wrestling fan and loved reading and listening to her Scottish/Celtic music. She was a member of the "Happy Club" and was known for her wit and humour.
Surviving are her son Roddie (Elaine) Gerrow, Long Island; daughter and best friend Joan (Cameron) MacIsaac, Leitches Creek; son Gordon (Brenda) Gerrow, Edmonton; grandchildren Curtis (Cheryl) Gerrow, Sydney Mines, Erin (Robbie) Gerrow, Sydney Mines and their mother Patsy Gerrow, Sydney Mines; Melissa MacIsaac, Leitches Creek and Daniel (Vicki) MacIsaac, North Sydney, Nicole (Tyler) Gerrow, Halifax and Kristi (Matt) Gerrow, Edmonton, Kara Gerrow and her mother Heather Gerrow, Sydney Mines, great grand-daughters Emma, Alexa, and Abby MacIsaac; sister-in-law Letha Shaw; life long friend Bertha Jessome and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by husband Russell (Bussy) Gerrow; brothers John and Roddie Shaw; sister Anna (Woodfine) MacLean, and sister-in-law Dee Shaw.
The family would like to thank the staff of Waterford Heights, Northside Guest Home, and Northside General 4 West. Special thanks to niece Brenda Miller for her care and compassion and neighbour Mary Charlene Delvecchio for her friendship and support.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Conception Church on Thursday January 31, 2013 at 10 a.m. with Fr. Thomas John officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in St. Joseph Cemetery, Sydney Mines.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of Francis Funeral Home.
