Bennett, Joyce Cecilia

The death of Joyce Bennett occurred on Thursday, January 31st, 2013 at the Oromocto Public Hospital. Born January 4th, 1943 in St. George’s, NL, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Dorothy Messervey and wife of Dave Bennett of Oromocto, NB.
Joyce is survived by her husband of close to 50 years, Dave; her children, Beverly Gritten (Dave) of Halifax, NS, Stanley Bennett (Rebecca) of Timberlea, NS, daughter, Lisa Bennett (Malcolm) of Oromocto, NB, David Bennett of Labrador City, NL; grandchildren, Derek Brown (Kerri) of Cold Lake, AB, Jory Brown (Holly) of Esquimalt, BC, David Gritten (Johnna) and Lisa Gritten (Stanley) both of Lloydminster, SK, and Thomas Young and Holly Young both of St. David’s, NL; great-grandchildren, Sheldon Ricketts, Erica Ava Brown and Quinn Gritten; sisters, Marie Head of Nebraska, Yvonne Harview of St. George’s, NL, Cheryl Messervey of British Columbia, Midge Messervey of St George’s, NL and several brothers and sisters-in-law from the Bennett family.
She was predeceased by her parents; her sisters, Carrie Thompson and Gerri Fletcher; her brothers, Arthur Messervey “Bud” and Albert Messervey. A memorial mass was celebrated at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Oromocto, NB. Interment will be held in St. George’s, NL at a later date in June.
