The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, of John Bennett MacDonald of Summerside, and formerly of Winnipeg, MB., aged 78 years. John was born on Dec. 11, 1934, in Summerside to his late parents Brent and Adele (nee Gallant) MacDonald. Beloved husband of Shirlee (nee MacVicar) MacDonald and loving Father of Vera (Dion) Gallant of Abram-Village, Kelly Ford (Mike Barry) of Summerside, Brent of Toronto, ON., and Brenda (Wayne) Pike of Summerside. Also lovingly remembered by 7 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Survived by the following sisters: Brenda Woolaver of Fredericton, N.B., Jeannette (Emerson) Ferrish of Sussex, N.B., and Olive Clements of Summerside. Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his brothers and sisters: Alfred, Eric, Greg (Yvonne) Elmer, Gerald, Wilfred Blaquiere, Joyce (Carl) Bell, Helen (Hal) McLaughlin and Babe Goode and brother in-law Bob Woolaver. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside, until Thursday, Feb. 7, then to St. Paul’s Church, Summerside, for a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment to take place in the church cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations in John’s memory to the Prince County Hospital Pallative Care Unit would be greatly appreciated.
