NICHOLS (McLeod), Bonita Lee “Bonnie” – 70, Toronto. It is with great sorrow and sadness we announce the passing of our mother on Monday, February 4, 2013, Scarborough General Hospital, Ontario. Born April 28, 1942, in Truro, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Lulu (Logan) McLeod and was part of a very loving family. Her dedication as a mother to her children and grandchildren was like no other. She loved us, encouraged us, lifted us up and supported us through thick and thin. Bonnie was also a great and trusted friend and confidant to many. She built a successful career in the magazine industry where she loved her work and the people who were a part of it. She was known as the RDA Queen. She also loved the ocean, sailing on yachts and cooking. She will be enormously missed by her son, Victor Nichols (Denise); daughter, Cindy Serensits (Randy MacIntosh); she will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Katie, Justin, Dylan, Ryan and Samantha as well as her many relatives and friends in Toronto and Nova Scotia. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Bonnie’s family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m., Friday, February 8, 2013, and where the funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 9, 2013, Reverend Ian Harrison officiating. Reception will follow at Hilden United Church, Irwin Lake Road, Hilden. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bonnie’s memory to Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or a charity of choice are welcomed. A memorial service will be held for family and friends in Toronto at a date to be determined.
