Melvin Patrick Pierro, 52, Wagmatcook, N.S., died Jan. 22, 2010, at his home.
Born in Baddeck, N.S., he was the son of the late Rodrick John and Mary Theresa (Isadore) Pierro.
He was a member of Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha parish.
He loved ice fishing, blueberry picking, bingo, repairing small engines and electronics. He was a handyman who enjoyed doing small jobs.
Melvin was a generous man, loved by nieces and nephews and children in the neighbourhood. Known for his smile, he was generous with whatever money he had.
He is survived by brothers, Kenny, Edward Francis, Wagmatcook, Clifford Daniel, Patrick Joseph, Halifax; sisters, Wanda Welmont, Alice Paul, Whycocomagh, Karen Pierro, Wagmatcook, Laura Isadore, Ontario, Ida Pierro, Sydney.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sister, Mary Theresa Pierro and godparents, Julia Stevens and Frank Pierro.
Visitation will take place at 41 Fishery Rd., Wagmatcook, after 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28 and Friday, Jan. 29, 2010. The funeral will be held at Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Church, Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, at 11 a.m. with Rev Robert MacNeil officiating. Burial at Queen of The World Cemetery.
